Hamlet, Act II

Class
  • Having taken a look at the propelling action in Act I, during this class we will review the emotional ties among characters, focusing on both the royal family as well Polonius's household.
  • We will also discuss Hamlet's decision to "put an antic disposition on," its historico-literary roots, and what consequences this decision brings.
  • Throughout, we will explore how the theme of acting or seeming versus that of being is enhanced by the happenings in Act II. (Breakdown of "O what a rogue...")
